When our son Andrew was born with Down syndrome he brought so much joy to our family that our kids nicknamed him "Happycake." They said "he makes you feel happy, like eating a piece of cake". Then we learned about the plight of abandoned children with Down syndrome around the world and we knew we had to make room for one more Happycake. “O Lord You hear the desires of the afflicted… You will incline your ear, to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed” Psalm 10:17-18.
A Public Thank You From Our Family For Support And Prayers
Rescuing abandoned children with Down syndrome and other severe disabilities from orphanages around the world is difficult. There are many obstacles and it is surprisingly expensive. Raising money to rescue these orphans feels much like raising a ransom. But by God's grace, your prayers and your generous financial support we reached our financial goal of $12,000 which was raised in just 6 months time. Our family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude to you all for your support!
Our special thanks go to Laura-Valentine Ministries, many in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church many OPC members around the country, Alyssa Goodhue (http://definingdennisdestiny.blogspot.com/) and Ashley Gibson (http://homeiswhereitsat.blogspot.com/search?q=dennis) for all your labors in finding a home for Dennis. We likely would not have found Dennis without your efforts and advocacy. We also would like to offer a special thank you to our dearest friends M.F. and your whole beautiful family for helping to care for our children while we were abroad and for showing us the way. Also, thank you to my parents and brother for your support, Shelly Ray, Becky Duncan-Lockney for your advocacy and support. There are so many other individuals who have supported us and provided for us financially along the way. While we cannot list everyone's name here, due in part to a concern not to violate your privacy, please know that we are very grateful!
Thank you for your support!
Our Whole Family
